Butterfield Signs are a family owned business with over 85 years’ experience in sign-making. We are one of the U.K.’s most respected manufacturers, producing a full range of signage for big brands as well as unique commissions on a local, national and European scale.
A founding member of the trade association – British Sign and Graphics Association (BSGA) – we receive external updates on any new legislation and sign technology, ensuring delivery of the best industry practice.
We operate a policy of continuous improvement, made easier as all work undertaken is carried out in house. We constantly re-evaluate all the services and standards we provide.
In our spare time, Butterfield Signs’ enjoy walking, running, cycling and even zip wiring to raise money for our local and national charities, recognising the importance of these voluntary organisations and in turn our responsibility to support their efforts.
We continue to back the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the Ronald McDonald House charities, supporting its Manchester, Birmingham and Liverpool Alder Hey Hospitals. This year we will also be making further contributions toward Macmillan and Movember.

Butterfield Signs’ commitment to the environment is underpinned by our successful achievement of the prestigious ISO 14001 certification and our on-going initiative to attain ISO 14040.
Intensified production processes – utilization of energy efficient systems and consolidation, recycle and minimization of waste –have already significantly reduced our carbon footprint. We are now working on supplying our clients with a “cradle to grave life cycle assessment” of their signage to minimize our environmental impact even further.
